Hanno effettuato lo shakedown sulla pista di Fiorano le Ferrari 488 GTE numero 51 e 71 che saranno protagoniste della 24 Ore di Le Mans 2018 e della Superseason del World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2018-2019. Confermate le coppie di piloti che guideranno le vetture durante il campionato: sulla 51 ci saranno i campioni del mondo James Calado e Alessandro Pier Guidi; sulla 71 Sam Bird e Davide Rigon. In via di definizione le terze guide per La Mans.
Colore e iride. La versione 2018 della 488 GTE per il WEC si caratterizza per il nuovo colore rosso metallizzato che rende la carrozzeria quasi cangiante. Sul parabrezza fa bella mostra di sé l’iride che la Ferrari ha conquistato tanto tra i piloti che tra i costruttori nella prima stagione in cui era un palio un vero e proprio titolo mondiale per la classe GT. Le vetture prima dell’inizio della stagione prenderanno parte al prologo del Paul Ricard del 6-7 aprile, una sorta di prova generale in vista del debutto nella 6 Ore di Spa-Francorchamps prevista per sabato 5 maggio. Giunta alla sua terza annata nel WEC, la Ferrari 488 GTE ha fin qui conquistato due titoli iridati costruttori e undici gare su 18 disputate.
Fiorano debut for the 488 GTE 2018
Ferrari 488 GTEs no. 51 and 71 had their shakedown test on the Fiorano track ahead of the start of the 2018-19 Superseason of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). World champions James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi in no. 51, and Sam Bird and Davide Rigon in no. 71, will be competing in the six-hour races. The third drivers who will join the crews in the Superseason’s first of the two editions of the Le Mans 24 Hours are not yet confirmed.
Colours. The 2018 version of the 488 GTE for the WEC will appear in a new shade of metallic red. The windshield displays the colours of the world title won by Ferrari amongst both drivers and manufacturers in the GTE class’s debut season as a proper world championship. The cars will take part in the prologue at the Paul Ricard on April 6-7, a sort of general test ahead of their debut in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday 5 May. Now in its third year in the WEC, the Ferrari 488 GTE has so far won two world championship titles and eleven races.
